Boomkat Product Review:
Starkey wrong-foots us with this chilled little number - his debut for the Ninja Tune label. The EP kicks off with the haunting, downtempo ‘Open The Pod Bay Doors’ which is a million miles from the grimy dubstep the US producer is known for. We’re back on familiar territory with the hypercolor 1-2 punch of ‘Blood Roses’ and ‘Rayguns’ which do exactly what you'd expect; cheeky low end wobbles crossed with a knowledge of classic IDM that gives the tunes an emotional weight rarely witnessed in the scene these days. Good stuff.
