Ooze / Ooze (Silent Servant Remix)
Hot on the heels of Russell Haswell's '37 Minute Workout', Diagonal Records drop a slow-burning, psychedelic killer from Elon Katz and Beau Wanzer's Streetwalker, backed with a powerful Silent Servant remix. First issued on Catholic Tapes cassette in 2011, the serpentine, twelve minute acid slink of 'Ooze' has been remastered for vinyl and primed for the dance. As opposed to the from-the-hip funk on their 'Future Fusion' LP for Minimal Wave's Cititrax sublabel, 'Ooze' is a more hard-hitting affair, stealthily paced to a sleazy 110bpm strut charged with woody, kinky percussive patter and a writhing acid lattice of home-built, photo-sensitive synthesiser and a rare E-mu modular to demented effect. By contrast Silent Servant's remix is far more collected and stoic, a head high, hip-thrusting EBM destroyer laced with lysergic glimpses of the original and benefitting from a super-loud cut at 45rpm. As ever, it's all packaged with sleeve design by Guy Featherstone and well recommended to the sleazy cats!
