Boomkat Product Review:
Strut present one of the first compilations to document the work of Chicago's seminal Cajual imprint and its fruity founder, Curtis A Jones aka Cajmere. The collection is cleft in two parts: one surveying Cajmere's legendary solo work beside collaborations with Derrick Carter and remixes by Masters At Work and Chez 'N Trent; plus a grip of label classics from Braxton Holmes, Glenn Underground, Andre Harris and more. It's headed up by - what else - a remastered mix of his 1992 anthem 'The Percolator', a raw-to-the-bone banger that pretty much set the template for ghettofied Chi-House, and goes on to take in 'Dream State' with Derrick Carter, and the boompty power-house of 'Feelin; Kinda High' plus the sexy ripple of 'Chit Chat' and Louie Vega's swinging New York remix of 'Brighter Days'. Of the other artists involved, Glenn Underground stumps up some cool gear on the simmering deep house of 'The Wheel' and the seductive, square bass driven 'Detroitism', and there's smart work from Adam on the tripping, trancey 'Moments In Time' and from Scotland's Deep Sensation with 'Get Together'.
