OneTwoThreeFour
It’s hard to believe, but legendary jangle-poppers (and the influential touchstones for Vivian Girls, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and plenty more) are back again and what’s more they’re back with style. ‘OneTwoThreeFour’ is a straight-for-the-jugular four-way punch of Ramones covers, and while these ‘reform tour’ releases can be horrible, Black Tambourine have pulled out all the stops and made this one a winner. Yeah, you’re worried – and you have all the rights to be, it’s the Ramones, being covered by a twee pop band that have been broken up for umpteen years, but as soon as the first few seconds of ‘I Want You Around’ graces your headphones all doubts disappear from you mind. The band still sound as tape saturated and mercilessly lo-fidelity as ever, and Pam Berry’s voice still has the power to make teenage boys weak at the knees. Black Tambourine are back, and lets hope they’ve got even more up their sleeves than just an EP! Highly recommended.
