Boomkat Product Review:
Originally, this compilation was available exclusively to attendees of the Kooky 10 gig in Northampton last November. Fortunately for those unable to attend the event the CD has now been formally released into the wild, and features contributions from The Durutti Column, Maps, Gnac, Pram and Formula One. Vini Reilly opens the disc with 'All Things Considered' a typically gentle, echoing ballad before Mark Tranmer (one half of The Montgolfier Bros) weighs in with some brittle, icy electronica under his Gnac guise. Pram's contribution is a winner, sampling some old vinyl and overlaying Stereolab-influenced synth lines. The Maps contribution 'The Tonic Girl' (previously found on the Start Something EP) sounds just dandy, and the shamefully overlooked Formula One make like The Fall via Add N To X on 'Status Check'. Another all but lost band, Seafood, crop up to deliver a live acoustic version of 'We Felt Maroon' a wonderful Lou Barlow-style ballad. A solid collection all-round.
