Boomkat Product Review:
There seems to be a wealth of great power-trio rock bands around at the moment - most of which seem to be on Holy Mountain - but Dead Meadow have been around longer than most, some ten years in fact. This sixth album (their third for Matador) finds the band's classy psych-rock sound captured with a crystalline clarity - no sludgy lo-fi stoner rock production values here. These guys are far more than just a jam band: while they can churn out extended bluesy solos all day long, they rein themselves in nicely for some proper, structured songs like the Neil Young-influenced 'What Needs Must Be' and country rocker 'Keep On Walking'. Good stuff.
