Boomkat Product Review:
Ahhh, Tin Man returns to vocal house with inimitable style on 'Ode' for LA's Absurd Recordings. Split roughly 50/50 between vocal cuts and their instrumental versions, the album is a return to the Tin Man sound we fell hard for with the 'Wasteland' and 'Cool Wave' mini-LPs, only this time driven by much tougher kicks. Few artists operating in the house/techno realm manage to juice as much emotion and atmosphere as this guy, and 'Ode' is a prime case in point, from the exquisite reverbs, elegant acid lines and poised, opiated vocals of 'No New Violence', thru the gorgeous warehouse impressionism of 'In Your System' and 'Depleted Serotonin', taking in the stunning EBM lament of 'What A Shame', or the sci-fi acid-pop prism of 'Memorphilia'. "Timeless" is an oft-overused phrase, but nothing suits the album better. Massive recommendation.
