Boomkat Product Review:
Luke Slater’s much touted electropop project has been highly anticipated in these parts – this 12” coming as a taster for a project that really has been long in the making. ‘Nothing At All’ seems to have its heart in the right place – shady 80’s synthlines and classic new wave melodies. The end result, however, seems to fall just that little bit short. Overcrowded production and an incredibly trashy hands in the air beat complete with appregiated crescendo’s make for cringe-inducing moments at several points across the track, think Gatecrasher rather than club Suicide on this one. King Unique’s mix on the second 12” tries hard to give the ‘dirty’ feel its title suggests, but the result feels more like a Saturday night in Blackpool..when its raining.
