Boomkat Product Review:
This all-Norwegian affair was originally released back in 1998 and features reworkings by two of the worlds most intriguing ambient producers - Biosphere and Deathprod - of Arne Nordheim's seminal "Electric" album.
Although relatively unknown outside of Norway until recent years, Nordheim's electonic experimentations have been a massive influence on a seemingly ever-growing number of contemporary producers. This amazing tribute is soaked with a resonance of endless nights and vast landscapes, a dark and rich tapestry of padded noises that reminds me of Twin Peaks and dark pregnant skies, evocative and unnerving, moving beyond description. Funny to think that around the time these pieces were produced the world of electronic music was busying itself with producing a kind of ambience best associated with Incense sticks and Fractal posters - the kind of ambient music that is the total antithesis to the music on "Nordheim Transformed". It's a mark of the true greatness of this album that years later it sounds even more intense and relevant than it did at the time. Breathtaking music.
