Boomkat Product Review:
Achingly perfect blue-eyed R&B pop from LA siblings, Inc.. Dripping with soul sensuality, their debut album, 'No World' fuses Andrew Aged's beautifully out-of-reach vocals and watery guitar lines with tenderised, filigree, and rhythmically killer production by his brother, Daniel. It's at once a vulnerable yet undeniably confident sound, poetically delivered and carved with supreme elegance. From the top you know it's going to be a sweet ride as 'The Place' shuffles in with plangent finger-pop percussion and ice-trickle arpeggios cushioning Andrew's comforting croon. 'Black Wings' soon makes clear why they're signed to 4AD - that guitar line could be looped straight from a Cocteau Twins intro - while the syrupy groove of '5 Days' come off like Autre Ne Veut if he found the right balance of meds, and the nocturnal new jack swing of 'Trust (Hell Below)' and empty-white-room vignette, 'Our Tears' practically beat How To Dress Well at his own game (not that anyone's competing). By the stunning 'Angel' we're fully seduced to their blue hues and the incredible subtlety of Daniel's production, setting us up for the instant spine chills of that pitch-bent guitar and 808s on 'Desert Rose (War Prayer)', and the Burial-esque swansong 'Careful', gently descending to the sophisticated solo piano decadence of closer 'Nariah's Song'. Breathtaking stuff, hugely recommended!
