No era sólida (outtakes)
Lucrecia Dalt follows up last year's "No era sólida" with a short EP of outtakes and sketches, shining further light on her creative process.
"No era sólida" impressed last September mostly because of the unique sonic universe Lucrecia Dalt managed to engineer. Investigating a fictional character through poetry and sound, she used vocals, unusual synthesizer sounds and fragmented rhythms to create a backdrop that was as unusual as it was inviting. Now this brief selection of outtakes explores that world in more detail and shows a lighter side to Dalt's compositional process.
Opener 'Nu' reminds of Raymond Scott, a mischievous cycling synth pattern sitting beneath ghostly, whispered vocals. Elsewhere 'Gt' pits wobbling FM synth curves against robotic wails, and closer 'Acartonado' sounds like a robot trapped in a washing machine, screaming as its power supply eventually fails. It's deeply specific, invigorating but light hearted material from Dalt and the perfect companion piece for the album.
