Boomkat Product Review:
Very necessary compendium of Tapes' frayed and wayward dub exploits on Japan's always wonderful EM Records.
Weighing up 6 new bits along with 10 remastered, tried-and-tested aces, 'No Broken Hearts on this Factory Floor' perfectly frames one of the UK's most original and free thinking producers; a steadfast and focussed artist juicing his sound for maximum style and pressure.
It reaches right back to his debut transmission on Jahtari, with 'Ticker Tape' from the 'Hissing Theatricals EP' rubbed up next to lesser known bombs like 'Oberheimer' and highlights such as the electroid 'Atomica Riddim' from his run of 7"s circa 2011-2012.
Better yet are some of the new, exclusive joints, such as his version of Olivia Newton John in 'Phyzikal Dub' or what sounds like an instrumental precursor to his Workshop zinger, 'Somebodies Baby' in the gorgeously groggy 'Good Thing You Came Along'. Suffice it to say, this is one of 2015's most crucial drops.
