Boomkat Product Review:
"The Night After E.P.’s glacial atmospherics and restrained percussion is an introduction to the sound of the L.P. that Chants is readying for early 2013. Title track “Night After” layers field-recorded beats with pleading female vox. “Ice Harvesting” finds a haunting choral melody following Taiko oil-drums through a sampled ice storm. B-Side opener “Caduceus” tells a more uplifting story of zithering synths set against rising tides of white noise. The EP closes with the alien bells of “Radial Lights,” a slow pressure-cooker whose hyphy-noir synths offset slabs of tectonic bass pressure. According to Chants, "I made this E.P. over a relatively brutal Wisconsin winter and sampled sounds from the snow and ice outside my apartment. Everything began with the emotion of non-musical elements like that." For fans of Shlohmo, Pinch, and Basic Channel."
