Boomkat Product Review:
A new three-part set from the explosive trio of drummer Steve Noble, guitarist Alex Ward and bass player John Edwards, this record builds on their previous wild and unhinged improv outing Deadeye Tricksters. The fuzzy, wayward guitars supplied by Ward really set this music apart from its free-jazz roots, instead having more in common with the likes of Scorch Trio or MoHa!'s early material. Kicking off with some fret-burning, whammy bar divebombing carnage on 'Crossfire' the trio sound raw and imperious, slowing down only slightly for the thoroughly skronked 'Riptide' before launching into the comparatively introverted finale 'All The Way'. This music overspills with energy and technical prowess, and the end result is a potent hybrid of noise, rock and jazz-rooted musicianship - great stuff.
