Load are one of those labels that I pretty much dig no matter what they release. Silver Daggers are a punk band, a proper punk band (they even sound lo-fi to boot) but in true new-wave spirit they can actually play their instruments, and they have a saxophonist. I've read some reference to them as jazzcore, which while being kinda funny doesn't really sum up what the band sound like - theres is the kind of sleazy post punk rock basement vibed jams that got us into music in the first place. It's DIY music for true music lovers, people who actually like to hear people playing tracks, having fun, jamming because they just have to rather than making a racket to look cool and score with chicks. With shouty girl-vox, booty-shaking bass and THAT saxophone 'New High & Ord' is a record that for me defines what the hell punk music was on about in the first place - there's none of your emo bullsh*t here, this is proper POWER, I can only imagine what seeing the band live would do to me, I'm thinking my legs would need weeks to recover, let's just say that. It's not a record for everyone, but if you're into jazz, punk, post-pop, noise, whatever if you're open minded and into something a bit left of the law then you just have to give this a closer look, you won't be disappointed. Awesome sh*t.
