Boomkat Product Review:
For his second album on Kranky, Adam Forkner's White Rainbow sounds to be in rude health. The opening 'Tuesday Rollers And Strollers' marks what might be a career best for the Portland-based psychedelicist, somehow marrying the roaming kosmische electronics of Moebius and Roedelius with the more current sounds of Animal Collective's pop-psych munificence. There's a dense, choral ambience at the heart of much of this music, and 'Major Spillage' sounds wonderful for its amalgamation of the human voice, synthesizers and beautifully engineered percussion. During the twenty-minute vibe banquet 'All The Boogies In The World', you might encounter a few spurts of improvised electronic shenanigans that test your tolerance levels for new-age trance-athons, but other than that New Clouds conveys itself as an accomplished and vibrant album of modern amorphous psychedelia, although you may want to steer clear from certain stretches of this if you're allergic to bongos. Excellent.
