Boomkat Product Review:
While living in central Manhattan in the 1970s, electonic legend John Foxx decided to make hymns to buildings. In the early 1980s, after moving his studio to the derelict East End of London he set about recording these synth-hymns to the city, drawing on experiences of living near ominous mills in Lanchashire, existing between layers of civilization in London and grandeur of epic skyscraper forests in NYC. The recordings also attempted to reflect the hazy nature of recollected memories, water-damaged by the mists of time. 'My Lost City' resuted as a collection of eleven wonderfully cinematic and achingly evocative themes of loneliness, urban ennui and conductions of pure, electrical/electronic magic articulated by a true synth maestro.
