Boomkat Product Review:
Nu-Detroiter Fabrice Lig has made waves in the last year or so with his uplifting and superbly made Detroit techno, on such labels as Clone, Starbaby, Playhouse, and Keynote. Here he appears on Kanzleramt with his debut LP, digging his 80’s synths out for a play. The good cuts on here are easy to spot, firstly the instrumental of the title cut, ‘My 4 Stars’ is a wicked version and displays some of those noises and construction that made Fabrice’s name, a real old school Detroit cut, and ‘Back To The D’ which is probably the finest and deepest moment on offer, holding true to it’s title with bass pads and bubbling synths conjuring memories of the early Detroit sound. There are 9 tracks in total, a couple of ambient-ish cuts, and a couple of faster techno numbers, but stick with the deep cuts for Fabrice’s best work.
