Boomkat Product Review:
Legendary Chicago box-beater and co-owner of the Mathematics label, Steve Poindexter, has compiled the latest round-up of the label's finest. 'Music From Mathematics' is a truly global affair, taking in 13 tracks from artists in Italy, Zurich, Tokyo, Athens, Germany, Kobe and U.K, creating a cross-continental matrix of producers working with a common aim - to keep the fires of Chicago burning. Showing the strength of the imprint, Poindexter has largely eschewed the rougher and more abstract productions for gorgeously spacey and often Balearic tinged grooves, from IAMTHATIAM's opening statement 'The Human Aura', to the mysterious 'The Late Invitation Theme', Hieroglyphic Being's 'Space Is The Place (Original Galaxy Studio Session)', to the LTM influences of Bocca Grande's elegant piano lead 'Adlibitum (Take 2)', or Analogous Doom's Drexciyan tripper 'The Polyhedron Nest', all covering styles ideal for home listening consumption and contemplation. Those looking for a dancers groove will find it on tracks like Chris Moss Acid's 'Naphthalene Sunset' (complete with special ambient noise outro) or Marcello Napoletano's kickin' closer 'Back 2 The Riot', but on the whole this is one for smoky late night sessions and early morning hazes. Recommended for all the real deep house heads!
