Boomkat Product Review:
The Canadian Steve Reich of the CloudWave era channels lush new age, house and neo-classical memes on his companion release to 'Exercises'. Inspired by a Wim Wenders film on Yohji Yamamoto called 'Notebook on Cities and Clothes', in particular a part of the score by Laurent Petitgand, Michael Silver (CFCF) was provoked to "look at the everyday objects on my desk and all about my apartment and outside on the street and see that there was something kind of inexpressible about them that I wanted to convey through music." Subsequently each track is denoted by a fairly mundane title, compared with its glistening content. The majority revolves an emotional swell of phasing keys and piquant electronic arpeggios, as with the sublime 'Glass' or the balletic sway of 'Bowl' or the Roedlius-like 'Lamp', but our favourite bits are those where it all comes together, as in the gently percussive jazz-fusion of 'Camera' featuring saxophone by Francesco de Gallo, and the languid new age house stride of 'Keys'.
