Boomkat Product Review:
Neatly stripped-down, trilling 2-step electro styles from Knoxville, TN’s Nikka Nair, highlighted by Mr. Mitch on his roving Gobstopper label. RIYL Parris, Beatrice Dillon, Raime.
Daring to do it super minimal, Nikki Nair does’t fck with hackneyed tropes, preferring to eke out sound from analogue hardware. The results are firmly future-proofed because of it, turning out five DJ/dancer-ready aces between the combo of shifty -2-step trills and stark vocals in ‘David’, the barillianly barely-there shimmy of ‘Joan’, and two natty electro workouts ‘Low Dimension’ and ‘Animals’, while ‘Free Kites’ recalls Idle Hands’ K-Lone sinking into a pleasurable K-Hole.
