Boomkat Product Review:
While most of the world don’t know about singer songwriter Jakob Olausson, he does have some pretty influential fans. The most notable of these is Ben Chasny (aka Six Organs of Admittance), and within seconds of ‘Morning and Sunrise’ it’s obvious to hear why. Olausson’s charming homespun psychedelic folk brings to mind the better exponents of the scene, and manages to stand tall even now in these folkless times. The whole record sounds as if it’s been recorded in a chilly log cabin somewhere in the mountains, and Olausson’s deeply singular songs have a solitude to them that’s positively impossible to ignore. This is beautiful escapism, and it feels like a privilege to lose yourself in the twisted psychedelia.
