Boomkat Product Review:
Something of a sidestep for Holy Mountain, that altar of all things psych-rock, this Fred Bigot album is all about primitive electronic signals and distorted oscillations. You might find yourself thinking of vintage Pan Sonic whilst listening to the record, and certainly on the thumping convulsions of 'Mono' and 'Stereo' you can hear the influence of the Finnish duo's more experimental side. 'Binary', meanwhile, sounds like Vainio gone '70s glam rock: the stomping rhythm is one part classic Sahko and two parts 'My Coo-Ca-Choo'. It sounds dreadful on paper, but in practice it makes for an interesting, shuffling alternative to the usual rigid Raster Noton-style minimalism. Recommended.
