Boomkat Product Review:
Seattle-based kosmische evangelist Kerry Leimer grew up obsessed with Can, Neu! and Cluster, and "Mitteltöner 72" is his tribute to the sound. This new version expands the 2018 album and includes all the music produced in the original sessions.
Leimer has been producing music since the late 1970s, and his most crucial material - released on his own Palace of Lights imprint - was surveyed on the RVNG collection "A Period of Review" in 2014. "Mitteltöner 72" features more recent material, and when it was initially released in 2018 it was his first vinyl album in 25 years. It's an accurate and enjoyable love-letter to the glory days of Michael Rother and Popol Vuh, and while it lacks the grandiose weirdness of those records, there's still plenty to enjoy.
