Boomkat Product Review:
Much anticipated debut opus from Jamie Woon, featuring three productions by Will Bevan aka Burial. It feels like an age since his 'Wayfaring Stranger' 12" first wowed the world, but it was actually only five years ago, in which time he's been placed fourth in BBC's sound of 2011 poll and collaborated with Subeena and Sa-Ra's Om'Mas Keith. The album opens with those three Burial productions, the previous singles 'Night Air' and 'Lady Luck' plus the strutting R&B of 'Street', as much a departure for Bevan as the others and quite successful too. The rest of the album is strewn between string-heavy and swollen-hearted pop soul, finding highlights on the sweet Kalimba and New Jack swing drums of 'Echoes' and the reflective 'Gravity'.
