The other half of the now legendary DMZ team releases one of his most anticipated cuts for his own Deep Medi imprint with the succulently blue jazz notes of 'Miracles' backed with the classic 'New Life Baby Paris'. Deep Medi has stuck to it's guns this year as other areas of the scene have moved into technofied, electrified and housier climes, Deep Medi has continually pushed the true sound of dubstep with rich and warm bass styles from Silkie, Quest and Tunnidge. Headboy Mala has saved the best for his own release though, with 'Miracles' calmly stepping on luxuriant dubbass and nut cracking snares in his trusted style, and pushing further into the Theo Parrish styled key work that his productions have become cherished for. The fragile sparseness of this cut reminds us of Theo's awesome'Dance Of The Drunken Drums' with perfectly offset keys shimmering over an immensely clever riddim for one of the best tracks to his name. 'New Life Baby Paris' on the flip should be well known to anyone following this thing, as it was a highlight of Kode 9's Tempa Allstars 3 mix and has been a fixture of sets for Mala and his close circle of friends ever since. We can remember the shock of hearing this for the first time with it's odd, off kilter melody and powerfully charged skank riddim sounding just as fresh today. Big TIP!
