Boomkat Product Review:
This latest project to be undertaken by Sending Orbs stalwarts Funckarma is a collaboration with soundtracking legend and synth maestro Cor Bolten. The resultant recordings often portray the brothers Funcken at their most zen-like and ambient, weaving their hallmark future beatscapes into these compositions with a greater sense of economy and restraint than usual, instead focusing on the boundless texture of the Bladerunner-like electronic swirl. The album is balanced nicely between outright ambient pieces and crisply detailed post-IDM compositions, and it's often the more experimentally-themed, freeform work that comes off as most successful. The lapping harmonies of tracks like 'Hallux Abb' makes Mings Feaner sound every bit the sci-fi odyssey that surreal Jeroen Advocaat sleeve art bills it as. Just have a listen to the laser-guided drone tones of 'Upher' or the submerged acid of 'Ibaxid' for further details. Ace.
