Boomkat Product Review:
Their first full-length studio album in nineteen years, ANP’s Metacompound is an atomic blast of industrial improv. After breaking up in 1987, KK Null eventually rejoined with Seijiro Murayama for some live performances, eventually culminating in the 'Live In Japan' album (also on Important). The three lengthy workouts that make up Metacompound cover all kinds of sonic territory and musical disciplines: ‘Metacompound G2A’ is overdriven free jazz par excellence while later tracks take in obliterated heavy rock beats (the drumming is pretty incendiary stuff) and spluttering electronics. Includes great artwork by Sunn O)))’s Stephen O’ Malley to boot.
