Boomkat Product Review:
The enigmatically titled 'Men Village' appears to be production trio Wareika's first outing together. When so many people come together to make minimal techno, you can't help but assume that at least one of the people involved is employed to remove sounds rather than add them to the mix. As the track evolves it becomes more and more apparent that these guys are willing to go a little beyond the constraints of the usual minimal templates, throwing in live kit sounds and hand-played percussion. An ominous, deep bass presence presides over the whole quarter-hour production, making sure the track never gets too fanciful while exploring the jazzier aspects of its latter stages. The Reboot remix quite sensibly retains the spacious room sounds that characterised the original, whilst sharpening up the central 4/4 framework of the track, with a punchier kick and crisp, resonant hat sounds keeping time.
