Baltimore’s Mezey & Nosho whip it wickedly irregular with a pair of deep fried, offbeat club cuts wriggling between broken beat, B-More, acid and pooter muzik, teamed with a jagged Djoser remix
Beginning in tandem on Future Times’ ‘FIGS Compilation’ (2019), and located individually with Mezey’s synth and sampler chops on the 3rd Lifted album, the ‘Melts’ EP sports the duo’s first works since 2022. They run amok on a no-person’s-ground somewhere between Dolo and Karizma in ‘Liverbox Recordings’, whisking martial snares, Eski grime clicks and swooping subs with psychoactivating vocals for a proper club madness, before pushing into weirdest, scratchy sorta computer music funk with ‘Folding Orange’ that distinctly recalls Actress’ earliest gear on the ‘No Tricks EP’.
Djoser lends a more even dubstep keel to ‘Liverbox Recordings’, trimming back the snares onto the 3rd and opening it out like some vintage Peverelist produced in an acidic miasma.
