Melodies From A Dead Radio
Beautifully patient and organic ambient composition for fans of William Basinski, Tape Loop Orchestra, Imaginary Softwoods or early OPN from Jeff Barsky (Insect Factory), a split release on Brooklyn, NY's Fabrica Records and his own eponymous imprint. 'Melodies From A Dead Radio' first reveals itself through a sensitively smudged patina of ferric blur on the breif 'Globes', where an oncoming slow motion wash of FM synth and suppressed distortion release gaseous harmonic vapours. Senses intoxicated, 'Radio Forecast' then emerges, seemingly built by tiny, scuttling metallic insects in a circumnavigating upward spiral whose journey gradually unveils finer layers of ambient detritus until a dense and ecstatically noisy climax is achieved. Now elevated to heady heights, 'New Incision' catches cirrus wisps of dissonant synth and the kind of drones which quiver the small hairs of the face, blooming into breathtaking clouds of harmonic distortion before a gentle descent takes us to the dilapidated porch-side comedown of 'Sutures'.
