Boomkat Product Review:
Norman Nodge lays down the seventh MDR release, and his 4th solo transmission. While his remixes for the likes of Peter Van Hoesen, Function and Kondens have tended towards fuller, more varied arrangements, his solo output is of a more stripped and experimental nature. These are four pieces of deeply functional techno architecture, sounding like technical drawings come to life and captured in the process. 'DNA' tests out a droning bass and syncopated rhythm style akin to Shed or T++ while 'Convergence' erects a monolithic techno superstructure draped in dry acid lines with an arresting melodic feature engineered at it's apex. The physically challenging dry funk of 'Homology' is a more streamlined warehouse shape built for the jackers and 'Adaption' augments classic Chicago schematics for his own purposes.
