Boomkat Product Review:
Jonny Nash and Diego Herrera (Suzanne Kraft) afford an absorbing 3rd glimpse behind the curtains of the Melody As Truth studios
The hypnagogic pull is super strong on this one. Within minutes of entering the A-side’s gently gyroscopic matrix of windswept hi-hats and keening chords in ‘Crushing Indifference’ our eyelids are beautifully drawn to half mast where they remain for the duration, as the piece continues to take shape in deeply swirling ambient-electro-jazz dimensions threaded with gibber-jawed Reichian vocal phrasing and eventually coign to rest in spongiform organ chords. The B-side’s ‘An Inn For Those Not Permitted’ then picks up in languid ambient jazz-fusion space with expressive bleats of sax and stroked guitar creating a subtle textural friction and lushly smudged harmonics primed for the dockside at dusk.
