This is a real peach - Minimal Wave's Cititrax sublabel presents an exquisite treat from Gothenburg's Facit. 'Mat Åt Duvorna' is the 2nd release by Facit mainman Joakim Karlsson, whose debut as Jocke & Elliot first caught the ear of MW's Veronica Vasicka on its release in 2010. Together with the kohl-eyed gynoid vocals of Mai Nestor he's realised this total gem; five tracks of super lush melody and needle-point machine beats as robotic and dry as they are emotionally rich and elegantly poised. Opener 'Om Igen' has a beautiful suspense between nimble bass hook/fleet drum patter and a melancholic, descending melody, whilst 'Alan Turing' mixes Mai's French vocal with rippling rhythms and swaying chords to lushest, lonely effect, and 'Albatross' is proper Scandiniavian driving music with a flighty step. 'A Million Years' is a big highlight, finely balanced between the sort of gear Dopplereffekt and Victoria Lukas make as Zerkalo, and that classic Gallic Chanson feel, leaving the delightfully piquant sparkle of 'Broschyr''s wandering sequencer melody to close. Hugely recommended.
