Boomkat Product Review:
Athens, Georgia's Maserati return, recharged and souped-up for an epic psych/post-rock trek accompanied by Steve Moore on 'VII'. Essentially Moroder-does-Metal, Maserati have retuned their motor since the passing of drummer and influential lynchpin Jerry Fuchs, to present their first LP conceived since his passing. Fierce, growling bass revs and motorik drums are piled up with towering riffs, locking into glorious freeway/autobahn rhythms slicked out with Steve Moore's go-faster arpeggiations in totally classic style. At times we could almost imagine Jeremy Clarkson bombing along with Brian May in the passenger seat blasting this out, but it thankfully manages to power steer down the right road and conjures images of Steve McQueen on amphetamines with the sun in his eyes and a fag in his mouth heading into the horizon instead.
