Boomkat Product Review:
Surely one of the strangest acts on Jagjaguwar, Parts & Labor's music is characterised by a high-energy hardcore punk zeal administered with an exuberant electronic presence. The result is an altogether unique kind of emo-noise loaded with massive choruses, weird background drones and wailing guitars. The clearest reference points here are the likes of Husker Du and Minutemen, whose 'King Of The Hill' gets a brash rewiring by the band. Since their previous album, 2006's Stay Afraid, Parts & Labor have found themselves touring extensively alongside Clinic, Black Dice and even Spank Rock. In addition to all that, between albums they turned out an all-electronic EP for the Broklyn Beats label. Yet despite the amount of ground they've covered of late, Parts & Labor have reconvened to make a likely candidate for their finest outing yet for Jagjaguwar.
