Boomkat Product Review:
Rush Hour unearth a real funk/fusion treasure from the elusive Mandré. Notably The Mystery Man From Outer Space was signed to Motown for the final few years of his career, releasing a handful of cherished synth soul bombs which go for hundreds of dollars on ebay nowadays. As the story goes this, his fourth album, was released privately on his Future Groove label but just after the copies were shipped most were accidently destroyed in the warehouse. Only a few copies made it to local stores, making this one of the most exclusive 80s funk/fusion albums in existence. His sound is somewhere between Prince, Parliament and Dâm-Funk and every bit as deadly as those comparisons imply. Make sure to check the caramelised silicon slickness of 'Isle De Joie' or the enchanting 'Magic Woman' and you'll be hooked! Killer.
