This classic debut album from SND is at long last available to us again after many years in the wilderness, just in time to give all you Electronic minimalism freaks out there another perspective on the sound. Snd's music is deceptively sparse: crisp, spotless bleeps and bass edits slowly mutating into hypnotic grooves, stumbling and occasionally falling, wobbling tones and seductive keys floating over the top. Although they were lumped in with the whole 'Clicks and Cuts' movement (and featured on the legendary compilations) their music has always owed much more to a techno heritage and, indeed, the sparse configurations of Sahko, although with a more relentless emphasis on rhythm rather than space. As time went on SND opened up their sound slowly to more readily recognisable variations of House, Techno and even proto UKGarage - though always contained within the 'less is more' mantra. This debut album remains a hugely important document of one of the more interesting production units to have emerged from the late 90's electronic music scene in the UK and is an essential purchase for anyone wishing to extend their musical vocabulary.Essential Purchase.
