Boomkat Product Review:
With her Peach Discs label steady rolling out aces, and DJing sets strewn all over the globe, Bristol’s Shanti Celeste returns home with two wicked mutations of jungle, Detroit techno and deep electro-house for Idle Hands - measuring up as arguably her strongest productions to date.
Make Time is a real bewt; fixing up lush pads, rolling ‘ardcore breaks and drifting vox like a firmer, full-bodied take on the floaty ambient jungle mutations also explored by Teresa Winter, similarly aching for eyes-shut in the dance (nobody does that anymore, sadly; are they too woke?).
On the other hand, Thoughts is a sublime, loose and loved-up hybrid of electro and deep house clearly skooled by Detroit but twisted with a UK AI appeal that resonates with vibes from Titonton as much as Laurel Halo.
