Boomkat Product Review:
Hazily impressionistic electronica from Devon's 10-20, following up his acclaimed but low-key releases for Highpoint Lowlife with the first LP on The Village Orchestra's Broken20. Apparently influenced by elemental forces and the intricacies of nature, 'Magnet Marsh' is a swooning, organically free-moving collection of personal and intimate productions, pieced together with a meticulous feel for space and detail. It's 21 tracks (plus continuous-playing tape versions) are scatter wizened digital rhythms and broken melodies like flotsam across a desolate beach, touching on the kind of crooked Hip Hop and IDM patterns favoured by Downliners Sekt or Answer Code Request, but intended for more reclined effect, and layered with lusher pastoral psych vibes. Fans of the aforementioned, Arovane or Mount Kimbie will find much to love here.
