Boomkat Product Review:
Italic proudly presents a true upcoming producer from japan: Satoshi Fumi across 3 new tracks for Italic ushers us into the next level of rocking deepness. It's immediately apparent this is a mature producer of a very high calibre - shades of all aspects of the dance music spectrum reveal themselves at every turn of this big big house record. "Madness and thereness" manages to adroitly straddle the divide between classic and future, there's a thread of pure disturbance throughout this undeniable dancefloor winner. For Satoshi, the opportunity of his lifetime as producer arrived in 2002 when DC duo Deep Dish picked up his track "protlex" and released it on Yoshitoshi under the slight name change Satoshi Fume. He is an extremely versatile artist and is usually involved in multiple projects simultaneously. As Owl, he blends atmospheric house with tough techno elements and there are shades of this persona on the excellent "Loop 5" contained here. As Deptech, he's threatening to unleash his deeper, progressive side - "Do it the music" perhaps hints at this direction with a touch of balearic lounge, but still manages to sustain the high standard of this release from this remarkable discovery.
