Boomkat Product Review:
The world's most uncanny pop star, FKA Twigs, blindsides everyone with the jaw-dropping 'M3LL155X'. Announced via a game-resetting promo video, it accelerates the hypeR&B aesthetics honed in her early EPs and LP1 to critical levels, accentuating her captivating audness from every angle whilst lyrically skewering her critics and trolls like a T-1000 with liquid metal talons (or an alien blow up doll). The production is this time handled by FKA herself with Young Turks' Tic and even a guest contribution by Happa on the bittersweet centrepiece, 'In Time'; twysting with preternatural sensuality from the insectoid Arca-ism of 'Figure 8', thru the shockingly sardonic lyrics and amorphous arrangement of 'I'm Your Doll', to the crushing future 'floor flex of 'Glass & Patron', and a quicksilver, discordant kiss-off with 'Mothercreep'. We hardly need to tell you that it's remarkable stuff, but, for what it's worth, this is one of the most affective, life-affirming releases we've heard in 2015.
