Boomkat Product Review:
An essential record of nocturnal ambient emissions from Stephan Laubner aka STL. Originally released in 2007, this is another release that features surrounding silence as the dominating force on show, creating sounds, atmospheres and barely audible background textures which are skillfully mixed to create the illusion of changing depth perceptions and arranged with the kind of scrutiny you come to expect from this visionary producer. Again, Laubner isn't shy of a long track length, including three cuts extending beyond the 10 minute mark to really get your head involved in his space, like on the exceptional 'Plunged Into Darkness' featuring spectral hi-end tones and severely ominous tones from the very lowest registers of his synths. Or there's 'Auserirdische Maschinen Sind' for anyone who thinks that isn't dark enough, sounding like Vangelis on quaaludes revising a personal score for Rutger Hauer in the closing sequences of Bladerunner. Blingingly dark music. Hugely recommended!
