Boomkat Product Review:
Axel Willner aka The Field surrenders three tracks from his Looping State Of Mind LP to three very different production units, all of whom respond to and amplify the inherent dreaminess of the material. Junior Boys steer things into more obviously Balearic territory, all tick-tocking disco arpeggios, wistful pads and a stoned, low-slung 4/4 groove - proper bleached sunset vibes. Blondes proffer a whooshing techno makeover of 'It's Up There', chunky Chi-town B-line anchoring the phosphorescent strings and twinkling synth FX, but it's Mohn - that's Wolfgang Voigt and Jorg Burger, remember - who are at the top of the class, delivering a dreamy, expansive ambient dub of 'Then It's White' that positively crackles with ideas and attention to detail, reminding us a little bit of classic Global Communication as well as Voigt's own 90s work as Love, Inc.
