Boomkat Product Review:
It seems like an age since we've heard anything from Kit Clayton. This master sound designer was one of the key figures in beat-driven glitch music around the turn of the century, and was one of the principal contributors to the development of the Max/MSP software. Live On Shortwave Radio was originally released in 1999 and was recorded at Kalx 90.7FM (which we can reasonably presume to be a radio station). The album is divided into three lengthy chunks, with the first taking on a very unconditioned and supremely disorganised digital noise character. After these chaotic beginnings, the second part converges on more liquid, ambient terrain, only for the third part to hint at some of the plunging dubscapes that would characterise Clayton's later output. Recommended.
