Boomkat Product Review:
Jan Jelinek, Hanno Leichtmann and Andrew Pekler bring their open-ended Groupshow to Staubgold with an LP recording of live performances in Berlin and Lisbon in 2010, 2011 and 2012. The loose-knit trio follow in a tradition of electro-acoustic improvisation stretching right back to the original Fluxus actions of the '60s and '70s krautrock of Cluster and co, Jelinek manning sampler, FX and mixer, Leichtmann 'pon drums and syndrums, and Pekler tweaking a tabletop guitar, synth and pedals, but by no mean restricted to any of them. Edited from said performances, the album moves through four fluidly joined (and charmingly titled) 'Countdown To Naptime' parts of Can or Neu!-like motorik pulses and woozy, outward-looking exotica tones dappled with spritzy dub FX on to the splashy cymbals and merrily meandering basslines of 'Not Your Ordinary Blanket', to a freaky highlight in the dotty, lysergic oddness of 'Pet Hair Magnet'.
