Boomkat Product Review:
Double assault this week from a man self-evidently in form - all Koze's recent output has been beyond reproach, and alongside this week's remix for Ada he settles into the groove quite beautifully here. The side long title side takes its time like 'Late Checkout' before it, teasing out the crackles and whirrs with some lullaby sweet melodic work and a funky choogler of a bassline funker. There's affinities with the work of Luciano on Cadenza in evidence here, but there's an even greater funk quotient brazen and walking it loud. Killer bass vamps, and a good start. 'Madame Zinfandi' bounces over some ping pong percussive inklings, remaining enticing and just out of reach - 'Smornin' heliumizes an unwitting seventies soulstress, and may well wind up looped into some hip-hop, given that genre's current predilection for the squeaky voice. Check it again. All told, things are looking very promising for Stefan Kozalla's debut album due out finally this summer, can't wait personally. Bring it on Koze-meister!
