Arch Berlin house minimalist Lowtec explores the most blunted and hypnotic angles of his style upon return to Avenue 66 with the ‘Light Surfing’ LP
Coming back to the US label after a fine 12” and 2018’s ‘Sketches’ mixtape, Lowtec lays out a horizontally inclined, low-battery style of energy efficiency bound to work a treat in intimate basement situations and smoky after-parties.
There’s a big highlight (lowlight?) in the hunched and druggy ‘Burnt Toast’ which swaggers across the D-side like a super-dazed Theo Parrish cut, while the offset acidic swing of ‘Interna’ also gets right under the skin, and the hazy slink of ‘Hotel D Europe’ is right up there with classic NWAQ.
