I hardly need to write this release up at all do I? I mean look at the lineup we've got here - Austrian guitar-electronic pioneer and all round superstar Fennesz, Norwegian ambient electronic stalwart Biosphere and Swedish experimental music god BJ Nilsen (under his Hazard moniker) all on one record together? Well I'm already sold, and this mini album certainly doesn't disappoint. We open with a track from Hazard, the scraping darkness of 'Meteosat' and the mood is set for the record; crumbling textures, tempered electronics and the most subtle of field recordings all produced with the utmost care and attention. Straight after this we're propelled into Christian Fennesz's patented world of processed guitar and heart-wrenching harmony. He might stick to a formula but it's a formula that just keeps on working again and again and 'C-Street' is no different, showing that there can be heart and soul in the noisy world of experimental music. The final two tracks are from Geir Jenssen under his Biosphere moniker and take a surprisingly more percussive turn, with cyclic electronic beats lying beneath his trademark ambient textures. This acts like a mini compilation for the Touch label, a small selection of the kind of diversity and quality they have on offer, and with artists as stunning as these then you can hardly go wrong really. Recommended.
