Libration
Once again laying waste to all dub techno pretenders, Hardwax's Scion Versions imprint returns with its fourth and most devastating transmission to date - another extended double header from René Löwe's Vainqueur and DJ Pete's Substance. "Libration" spans the A-side and features just under 10 minutes of the most intangible, silvery dub slivers and techno reductions imaginable - with Vainqueur's signature decimated synths discharging and evaporating throughout the mix and Pete's unbelievably padded kickdrum keeping the propulsion on course. Needless to say it's the perfect continuation of classic Chain Reaction material, but its also an incredibly textured piece of work that pays as much attention to the colour and character of the mid tones as it does to the jaw dropping lower registers you'll all be expecting. Resonance on the flip is even better, a mid-tempo quasi-house shuffle that makes use of rough, almost robust hats and seemingly endless layers of chords and analogue detritus that have an almost overwhelming effect on the senses. Absolutely crushing material - BUY!
